Sunny Health & Fitness Pro Indoor Cycling Bike Review

Some folks have been riding indoor cycling bikes at the gym and know exactly what they are looking for in a spinning bike. Others have heard about indoor cycling, but aren’t sure what to look for in an entry-level bike. After thoroughly researching all of the spinning bikes for sale, I have discovered that the Sunny Health & Fitness Pro indoor cycling bike is a very good choice for beginning riders. Not only is it one of the least expensive spinning bikes on the market, but it’s features compare nicely to more expensive bikes.

If you are new to spinning, you may not know what to look for in a home spinning bike. All indoor cycles consist of four main features that you’ll want to keep in mind when you compare bikes. These are:

· The Flywheel
· The Seat
· The Handlebars
· The Resistance Controller

So let’s take a look at each of these four features on the Sunny Health & Fitness Pro.

The Flywheel …

The flywheel is the guts of the bike. Some indoor cyclists prefer a very heavy flywheel, up to 55 pounds, believing that a heavier wheel delivers a smoother road feel. But other indoor cyclists find that a heavy flywheel creates too much stress on their hip joints and they opt for a lighter feel. The lightest flywheels are about 31 pounds and are available on the Spinner Sport Spin Bike and the Bladez H914 Jet indoor cycling bikes. The flywheel on the Sunny Pro bike is in the middle, weighing 40 pounds.

The Seat …

The Sunny Health and Fitness Pro cycling bike comes with a fully adjustable seat. It can be moved forward and aft, and up and down. This means that each rider can fully customize his or her seat position. If the bike is being used by more than one person, the seat position can be easily changed to accommodate each user.

The Handlebars …

Just like the seat, the handlebars on the Sunny Health and Fitness Pro bike can be adjusted to fit the needs of each rider. The position of the handlebars is more horizontal than some indoor cycling bikes, making it easy for the rider to stretch out in a seated flat position. (Riders who prefer a more vertical position for the handlebars may want to see our review of the Bladez H914 Jet spinning bike.)

The Resistance Controller …

This indoor cycling bike has a tension knob that the user turns to increase or decrease resistance on the flywheel. (If you are used to the lever-style resistance controller, see our review of the Bladez H914 Jet.)

Specs on the Sunny Health & Fitness Pro …

· Assembled weight is 108 lbs.
· Steel frame
· Red flywheel
· Front transport wheels
· Attached toe straps
· Emergency stop brake
· Maximum user weight is 275 lbs.

Does it have a Warranty?

No express warranty is offered, however, if the cycle is purchased at Amazon it is subject to the standard Amazon return policy.

What Others Are Saying …

The Sunny Health & Fitness Pro carries a rating of 4-out-of-5 stars at Amazon. There is general agreement among buyers that researched a number of different spinning bikes that the Sunny Pro represents the best value for the dollar for an entry-level indoor cycling bike. Some of the recent user comments include:

· “This bike is just as sturdy as any spinning bikes that I’ve used in a gym. I would highly recommend it.”

· ” …this bike performs just as well as the $1000+ ones I’ve used at commercial gyms.”

· ” … easy to put together. I did it by myself in about half an hour.”

· “Good quality for the price, almost $200 less than comparable bikes I’ve seen in stores.”

· “I had high expectations for this bike and I was not disappointed. The build quality is solid!”

Any Negatives?

A few users have found that the Sunny Health & Fitness Pro cycling bike doesn’t sit low enough for shorter users, generally 5’4″ or shorter. These users solved the problem by drilling an extra hole in the seat stem. Taller users seemed to have no problem fitting the bike.

A few more experienced cyclists were disappointed that the Sunny Pro bike does not have pedals that allow for clip-on cycling shoes. They found they could remove the pedals that come with the toe-straps and replace them with cycling pedals that accommodate clip-on spinning shoes.

Where to Buy …

The retail list price of the Sunny Health & Fitness Pro indoor cycling bike is $599. But a thorough search of the internet revealed Amazon to offer the bike at about half the list price. It is generally offered between $300 and $325, and is sometimes on sale for less than that. Buyers may also want to consider the Amazon free Super Saver Shipping offer, especially since this bikes weighs over 100 lbs.
